Repossession assignment information

A complete assignment connects the lender’s documents to a specific asset and a usable location. This guide explains what to prepare before contacting Truck Repo.

Identify the collateral

For trucks and trailers, give the VIN, year, make, model, and unit number. For equipment, provide the manufacturer, model, serial number, and accessories covered by the agreement. Photos can help explain body configuration, distinctive markings, or changes since the asset was financed.

Explain your authority to assign it

Identify the lender, lessor, owner, or private lienholder making the request and supply the relevant documents. Private-party files are reviewed on their facts; possession of an old invoice or a business relationship alone should not be treated as approval to recover a unit.

If the documents, ownership, or right to possession are disputed, discuss that before dispatch. Your attorney should address legal questions about the applicable agreements and recovery process.

Make location information usable

List the latest confirmed location and its date first. Separate a mailing address from a yard or work site. Include authorized tracking records, sightings, property contacts, and known access restrictions. Explain whether the unit is moving or held by a third party.

State the handling requirements

Describe keys, mechanical condition, attached trailers, freight, and installed equipment. Include available dimensions and the intended destination. The office can then discuss the assignment, proposed charges, and any additional work needed.
